What makes Avante Physical Therapy different?
Expertise You Can Trust
At Avante Physical Therapy, you'll work with a Doctor of Physical Therapy who has advanced training in orthopedic physical therapy, sports rehabilitation, and performance. Every treatment plan is grounded in current evidence and tailored to your goals, whether you're recovering from an injury, returning to sport, or looking to move with less pain. Your PT has also performed at a high level athletically. The Owner of Avante played D1 college soccer, has trained with professional athletes, and has run races like the Moab 240.
We Prepare You for Real Life
Our goal isn't simply to reduce pain. We help you understand your injury, restore strength and mobility, improve confidence, and build long-term resilience so you can return to running, training, work, and the activities that matter most. Whether you're dealing with back pain, neck pain, shoulder pain, knee pain, or a running injury, our focus is helping you live better—not just feel better.
One-on-One, Every Visit
Every appointment is a full 60-minute session with your physical therapist. You'll never be passed between providers or treated by technicians. This allows us to provide individualized care, hands-on treatment, exercise prescription, and education designed specifically for your recovery and performance goals.
Care Without Insurance Restrictions
As an out-of-network physical therapy clinic in Columbia, South Carolina, our recommendations are based on what is best for your recovery—not insurance restrictions. Longer appointments, individualized treatment, and flexible plans of care allow us to focus on achieving meaningful, lasting results rather than meeting insurance visit limits.

What People Are Saying
★★★★★
“I had a great experience with Colin, and it led to a quick recovery. I had lots of unusual pain in my hip, and I couldn’t find any relief, despite having an athletic background. Colin gave me extensive time and attention and offered a number of different care techniques both onsite and at-home. He was quick and attentive to follow up, as well. Overall a great experience.”
— Nicholas
★★★★★
“I highly recommend making an appointment with Colin. He took the time to explain running mechanics and training methods. His advice to run more by feel instead of chasing a heart rate zone completely changed my training approach. Thanks to his guidance, I improved my efficiency and significantly lowered my 2-mile run time. If you’re a runner looking to perform better, go see him! He’s knowledgeable, easy to work with, and genuinely wants to help you succeed.”
— Nana Rodriguez
★★★★★
“I went to see Colin for chronic pain in my neck and shoulder blades that had been causing frequent tension headaches. From the first appointment, he took the time to explain likely culprits causing the pain and walked me through stretches/exercises to alleviate the pain. After seeing Colin twice a week for three weeks, my neck tension headaches are completely gone. Not only did I get relief from the pain, but I also learned practical exercises and preventative techniques to help keep the problem from coming back. I had a great experience and would highly recommend Colin to anyone dealing with chronic pain or looking for a physical therapist who genuinely takes the time to care for patients.”

Frequently Asked questions
-
We take time to understand where you are, where you want to go, and what’s standing in the way. From there, we follow a clear process—addressing what matters now while preparing you for what comes next. That might mean reducing symptoms, refining movement, building capacity, or preparing for the demands of your life, training, or sport.
-
Avante is an out-of-network physical therapy practice. This allows us to structure your care around what you need rather than the limitations of an insurance plan. We do not bill insurance directly, but we can provide documentation for you to submit for possible out-of-network reimbursement.
-
Your first visit is about understanding the full picture—not just where it hurts. We’ll talk through your symptoms, training, daily demands, and goals, then assess the movement and physical qualities that matter to you. You’ll leave with a better understanding of what we found, what we can address, and a clear plan for moving forward.
-
Your plan depends on where you’re starting, where you want to go, and how much support you’ll need along the way. After your evaluation, we’ll give you our best recommendation for what that process may look like—including an expected number and frequency of visits. We’ll reassess as you progress and adjust the plan based on what you actually need.
-
Great! Physical therapy shouldn’t exist in a vacuum. With your permission, we can communicate with your coach, trainer, physician, or other providers so everyone understands the plan. When appropriate, we’ll also help you transition back into the training environment where you ultimately want to succeed.
-
Usually, no. Our goal is to help you manage load rather than simply avoid it. When possible, we’ll find ways to keep you training while modifying what needs to change. If something does need to be temporarily reduced, we’ll explain why and help you maintain as much of your fitness and capacity as possible
-
No. Physical therapy can be about more than recovering from an injury. We work with people who want to address recurring problems, improve movement or physical capacity, return to an activity, or bridge the gap between rehabilitation and higher-level training and performance.
